SBA LoansThe U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offers numerous financing programs to assist small businesses. SBA has been assisting businesses with their financing needs since 1953. Among the most used SBA financing options are these three programs: Basic 7(a) Loan Program, the most basic and most used type of SBA loan, provides funding for start-up businesses. It is also the agency's most flexible business loan program, since financing under this program can be guaranteed for a variety of general business purposes. Loan proceeds can be used for most sound business purposes including working capital, machinery, equipment and furniture/fixtures. For detailed information about 7(a) loans, go to www.sba.gov./financing/sbaloan/7a.html. SBA Express is a 7(a) loan program for expanding existing businesses. Detailed information about this loan program is available on the SBA web site, www.sba.gov./financing/lendinvest/sbaexpress.html CDC/504 Program provides growing businesses with long-term, fixed-rate financing for major fixed assets, such as land and buildings. Certified Development Companies (CDCs) work with the SBA and private-sector lenders to provide 504 loans. A CDC is a nonprofit corporation set up to contribute to the economic development of its community and is certified by the SBA to originate and service SBA 504 loans. The CDC for Shawnee and Douglas Counties in Kansas is Wakarusa Valley Certified Development, Inc. For detailed information about SBA 504 loans, go to www.sba.gov./financing/sbaloan/cdc504.html.
